Welcome from the Principal

I am honored to serve the students, families, faculty, and staff of Southside Middle School as Principal. As a proud graduate of Tallassee High School, it is especially meaningful to have the opportunity to serve the community that played such an important role in shaping my life. Southside also holds a special place in my professional journey, as I previously spent six years at SMS. Having the opportunity to return and serve the school as principal is both exciting and deeply meaningful to me. This year marks my 12th year in education and my 11th year serving Tallassee City Schools.

I earned a bachelor's degree from Auburn University, followed by a master's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of West Alabama. I later completed a master's degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama and an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Instructional Leadership at the University of Alabama.

Education is truly a family passion for us. My wife and I are both proud members of the Tallassee City Schools family. Our son, Hayden, is a seventh-grade student in Tallassee, and we also have a daughter, Kenzie, and a grandson, Silas. We are grateful to call Tallassee home and enjoy spending time together as a family, especially relaxing on the lake.

As an educator and administrator, I believe every student deserves a school where they feel safe, supported, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential. The middle school years are an important time of academic, social, and personal growth, and I believe our responsibility extends beyond preparing students academically. We must also help them develop the character, confidence, responsibility, and skills they will need to be successful in high school and beyond.

I believe strong schools are built through high expectations, consistency, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to continuous improvement. I look forward to partnering with our faculty and staff, families, students, and community as we build upon the strengths and traditions of Southside Middle School and continue moving SMS forward.

I am excited to be back home at Southside and look forward to what we will accomplish together.
